Default GS350 no navi convert to navi

I'm about to purchase an 07 GS350, NewYork, about 70k mile, for $17k. I would go for other car but this is the only black on black. The car has no navi and back up. Can I buy a navigation unit from ebay and swap it in? I mean that sounds silly. I think it would be a lot more complex like running wire to GPS censor and camera at the trunk. But do you think it's doable? thanks

also I think $16k is a fairer price. the front bumper has rock chips but it's understandable. other than that no blemishes to the paint. no accident.

I don't know....sounds like a big headache to do that.....given that the unit controls everything from A/C to Radio, to Navigation, to Bluetooth......

You would probably end up buying one of those portable navs attached with a suction cup to your windshield.....

Find a different car with navi, imo your opening a door to a headache. Plus navis are not cheap! In the end youll end up spending more.

I would say get the car. GPS like garmin and tomtom are way better imo than lexus navi. My car has navi and I always prefer my tomtom GPS.

Look into getting a IVIC unit by Vais tech ( they are a vendor here) it should allow you to display your smart phone on the non navi screen and control your smart phone via the touch screen as you normally would.

1000% better than the OEM navi because as you know your smart phone is limitless

I really appreciate your suggestion.

it sounds really interesting and I think it is the route I would go if I buy this car (07 no navi.)

You right.

it remind me of the experience my father went through. He was a ASE or something like a master in mechanic, had his own shop. He bought an 04 land creuiser with no navi, and install oem nav screen, along with running a new gps censor and running a back up camera to the back lift gate. It worked but it was tons of work. from taking the old unit out, removing pillar and headliner, and it just tons of work. In the end, the car picked up GPS signal intermittently.

I think I'm gonna offer the car at $16k. and if he's ok to sell, I'll just drive a non navi GS. b/c it's the only black/black priced reasonably, 07 with 62k miles clean title no accident.

Later if I feel like I probably with get the IVIC integration and call it done.

thanks everyone for the inputs. I really appreciate this community!

if you have an iphone, you can jailbreak it and do turn by turn navi on the non-navi units.

I'd say just stick to a smart phone. Unlike older navigation systems found in cars, the smartphones is usually more uptodate AND if you're trying to find directions to a specific location you can usually choose the phone to direct you there instead of having to manually input the address is a navi system.

I also have a GS (black/black) without navi and to be honest I don't miss the factory system.

The navi just finishes a GS imo, when you go to resale it will bring top dollar. Plus having that screen for backup camera is a huge plus. The price of this 07 is too high especially for a non nav. Keep shopping in that price range you should be able to find 08-up with navi just be patient
