Default Auto Folding Mirrors on GS

Finally, I did it....comments and complaints are welcome

Took me couple hours for both side
Here's the instruction I got from Russian guy who did on his GS

1. Remove driver side door panel
You can find the black “Mirror Control Unit” which has 3 Connectors
Connector A, Connector B and Connector C

2. At connector C
Cut the green wire (pin #3 on connector) now you have
- Green wire (connector side) and Green wire (Motor side).
- Do same with blue wire (pin #11 on connector).
Green wire (connector side) connect to Pink wire of PO-40.
Green wire (Motor side) connect to Green wire of PO-40.
Blue wire (connector side) connect to Purple wire of PO-40.
Blue wire (Motor side) connect to Yellow wire of PO-40.
When You done you can plug the connector back to the Unit

3. Unplug Connector B
-Tap the Black/white wire on the connector (pin #1 on connector) with Black wire of PO-40.
-Tap the Yellow wire on the connector (pin #3 on connector) with Orange wire of PO-40.
-Tap the Blue wire on the connector (pin #6 on connector) with Red wire of PO-40.
When you done, you can plug back the connector to the unit

4. Unplug Connector A
-Tap the Red wire on the connector (pin #1 on connector) with Blue wire of PO-40.
-Tap the Green wire on the connector (pin #2 on connector) with White wire of PO-40.
When you done, you can plug back the connector to the unit.

That’s it, driver side Complete, for the passenger side the color little different, but if you use the pin location should be same position.

Another note, there is 2 version of PO-40, make sure you order the older version (Old version has brown loop cable, new version use plug for brown cable)

nicely done! i assume you used the notes from the 2IS forum.

just becareful though as the gears on the 3GS mirrors tend to strip very easily.

main reason I don't bother with this fold or the reverse mirror tilt anymore. Those plastic gears can't handle the stress.

Is there any preventative maintenance that we can do to the mirrors to keep them lubed?
Can the mirror gear assemblies be serviced reliably without damage? I would be fine with this if the mirrors were more reliable.

From what I understand, the plastic gear can't handle the constant use. It is well lubed, but it still get worn down. Just that one single gear wheel get worn down and you have to buy the whole assembly.

i could be wrong, but i recall someone cracked open the whole assembly and machined a gear wheel out of metal and managed to fix it that way?
