This is a common problem with the 2IS. The touch screen wouldn't work because the ribbon connector to the screen breaks down over time. The solution is to open the unit scratch the glass where the connect meets the screen and use a circuit writer pen and make a new solid connection
It's not 100%. I tried to do that on my IS250, and didn't work. The circuitry on th glass is finely attached to the glass. I think it's part of the glass. When you scratched the glass, you are actually chipping away the circuitry. So I bought a generic digitizer from Amazon. Took less than 2 hours to swap out and put it back in the car. Work great.
I'm in the same situation. I have a 2007 GS350 and my screen is frozen. I took it to the dealer and they was going to charge me $1700.00. I decided to order a replacement screen(from ebay) and have lexus install the screen. I took it to the dealer and they had no clue what to do, so now I'm looking for a shop to install it for me.
Any advice on a shop in PA, NJ, or DE that can install screen?
I don't know about GS350,but my IS250 had exact same issue. Frozen Navi. The poorly designed flex on the digitizer was the issue. Over time, the flex that attached to the digitizer loses connection due to wear and tear that creates micro cracks, which loses connection.
I got a generic digitizer, and replaced it. My Navi is working great.
I might know a guy pm your contact info hes right up your ally too.
Sorry to go off subject but, would this person be able to perform a Gen 4 to Gen 5 nav conversion? I've had all the parts sitting for several months, including a vaistech ivic-DR. Don't really have the patience or time to figure out the pin configuration.
