Yeah, a month or 2 doesn't bother me. As long as it will be done at their cost.

So what are the symptoms that it's about to break? I bought my 07 GS350 used with 22k miles about a year ago and now has 31k miles.

Just an update for anyone in the greater Boston area and to shed some light on those of us that are in need of some light at the end of the tunnel.

My wife called to several dealers in our area as she was paranoid about this recall because she seems to be experiencing problems. Lexus of Watertown apparently seem to not know anything about this recall, which is sad because they were my first choice. I ended up being able to schedule an appointment for Tuesday at 12pm for the recall service. We would have been able to drop it off sooner, but they have no loaners available until Tuesday.

I hope this resolves any issues and I will update here after I receive our vehicle back.

Most likely your car will be returned to you same day, as they do not even have the parts to do the recall. It is not even in the system as a recall yet. This is only a preliminary notice, the recall has not been released yet.

Do you work for Lexus? According to Lexus corporate, they sent out parts this week or are in the process. They also mentioned to my wife that letters should start coming in the mail soon starting next week. I am not sure if I should believe anything at this point. Also, we talked to a tech there and they supposedly have a lot of the 'parts' available. Not sure if they just want me to come in to try and sell me a new vehicle or pay for other parts of what you mention is true.

We will see Tuesday for me I guess

Goodluck hopefully they do get their hands on the parts. But as of Tuesday was my last contact with the service adviser. He searched, call corporate, spoke to his techs and did everything he can for me. He explained it is not even in the system for him to treat it as a recall.

Ibudu1 turns out you were right. I called to reconfirm today and they do have the parts to fix it, but it is not yet in the system as a recall service so I would have to pay out of pocket and let them reimburse me later.

Also, drove the car yday and notice the car almost shut off. Was pretty nerve wrecking, but it stayed on throughout my drive yday of over 50miles.

Today, my low oil light popped up. Put in another half quart of valvoline full syn and letting her rest now so I can recheck the dipstick. The last thing i would want would be to have to file a lawsuit over engine failure. Lawsuits are a huge headache and waste of time overall, but Lexus will definitely be expecting it in the event of an engine failure resulting from this vvt problem..

I think this will be my last purchase from them also

Also kind of surprised I have not heard of any stories about engine failure. I would imagine a lot of people who own the gs platform do not have time to check their own oil, or could care less to be on top of fluids since its 'a Lexus' and typically is very reliable
