Default 2008 GS460 - Spark Plug Replacement

Hi,
Need some helpful advice.
I have a 2008 GS460 with 62k miles. I have completed all the 60k service items except changing out the spark plugs. I was at the local dealer on Saturday and he quoted $560 for just the spark plug replacment (I clarified this was not for all the 60k items just plugs).
This seems very high for just spark plugs!!!
Can anyone comment please.

Also, are their choices of different plugs to replace? Long - lasting vs. perfomance?

Would you know the P/N's?

Thank you in advance.

If you are not registered with sewell with there clublexus discount you can find plugs at a good price. Once you purchase them, take the car to a local mechanic give him $70 you should be good to go. But $560.00 is insane for plugs. You might have better deal if you take your car to a Toyota dealer.

That is actually a great deal. My dealer quoted me $700. I went to two independent shops and they around $550. The one i used charged $450 but when i picked up the car he told me that misquoted me and it took a lot more time than he had expected. He said it should have been $100 more but out of good will did not ask for it.

I was quoted $240 at a local certified Lexus shop. I have a GS300 so the 460 may be a little bit higher. I called another shop and they stated that my plugs should be ok. I'm at 70k.

If you take the engine cover off at least on the V6 it looks to me like all of the ignition coils are pretty easy to get to, like... the only thing you have to remove might be the intake which only takes a minute. I have no idea why it should cost that much.

Experienced Mechanic less than an hour. DIY'er around 2 hours tops. This is not a difficult job to do.

Yep sounds close, my dealer quoted me $850. Bring it to a trustworthy shop or you can try to do it yourself. The V8 should be easier than the V6 or my old hybrid GS. I have heard of some members going for 70K and changing them out. Also stick with the OEM just purchased them from Sewell Lexus for the discount price. Part #: 9091901249

They aren't due till 120k. But only use NGK or Denso plugs. Calls for 1.1/hours to replace.

DENSO made: FK20HBR11

Plugs from Sewell are $10.95 each

Excuse my ignorance, but why are these dealer quotes so high? The part is not that expensive and the labor seems outrageous.

Can someone tell me the interval in which plugs need to be changed. Im at 62,000 on a 2008 gs350

Wow, the OP was considering getting it done as part of the 60k service so I figured that is when they first get replaced.

Correct. They use Irridium plugs and last longer compared to a platinum plug which is generally serviced at about 100k.

Actually I think for 460, dealer service called for spark plugs change at 60K, but I think it is over kill, maybe 90-100K or so.
