Default Transmission and mirror issues

2008 lexus gs460, relegiously maintained 219000km on the clock.

My problems are, on occasion when accelerating somewhat hard and then leveling off the transmission will stay stuck in a low gear and just rev to the moon. Will only stop if i jab on and off on the gas pedal or shift into sport and manual change the gear.

Second issue which is driving me INSANE is the drivers side mirror is always moving itself... i will set it as i want, and with great frequency it will end up being pointed to far up and i always have to adjust it back, and i have tried setting the memory over and over and it still happens. Passanger side mirror is not affected.

The transmission sounds normal, to me by the way you let off is abnormal. These cars adapt to our driving habits. Maybe you unplugged the battery recently? Were you on ect mode?

mirror is because the gears are stripped. use the drop down box by your left knee and set the switch to the middle (ie so neither L or R are lit up green). If it is set to the middle, when you put your car in reverse, the mirrors wont move.

yea its nice considering the plastic gears always strip. not a problem if your under warranty but if not, its pretty costly to replace

Also on the transmission, if you haven't replaced the transmission fluid. This would be a good time to replace all the fluids in the driveline. Transmission, front (if awd) and rear diff, transfer case (awd)

Rule #1 for 8 speed on this car:

If for any reason, you accelerate hard and lose traction ( don't matter if traction control came on or not ), the car will maintain that gear and in most cases... never shift... or in rare cases , shift if you slow down.

If you want it to go back to normal, you must come to a complete stop!

Reason for that is safety. It's a safety feature lexus have added to this transmission because of it's very short ratio. If you lose traction, the last thing you want your car to do is shift up!! It usually ends up in disaster!

So Lexus introduced this feature for you to be able to drive in slippery surfaces in a more controlled manner!
