Exclamation 3gs Water Pump Failure Thread

Well with all the recent activity figured a thread that everyone shared more information can help other members and possible strength for Lexus to make sure the issues are resolved especially if this is with one given motor these issues are happening.

I would think starting off with what model GS you had a failure or premature wear. Also if your the original owner, followed all service schedules flushing coolant, or if you purchased as a CPO. These we know would have to meet service requirements. Anything else others can think to add that would be helpful.

I would HIGHLY suggest others to start having these checked to be safe.

Great idea.

Question: at what mileage is coolant flush recommended and has anyone done DIY?

Oh.. Yes, water pump failure...

My car, 07 GS350. Water pump failure at 73,277 miles. Mine failed at highway speeds and I wasn't aware of overheating or coolant loss until the engine apparently overheated (not indicated on temp gauge) and failed.

Lexus ExtraCare denied the claim. Lexus, after several weeks, offered to cover over $13,000 in parts, I had to pay $3,750 in labor. Lost use of car for 6 weeks.

My water pump failed at 69,233 Miles. Lexus checked it and found that the water pump was leaking. I'm the second owner and it was covered under my CPO warranty.
I agree I think more people should get this checked before it turns into something worse.

100K or 10 years, then 50K or 5 years thereafter.

This was what I saw in my engine bay.

There is a little fluid on the bottom and some newly leaked fluid landed on my installed F-Sport Sway bars.

At my last service, dealer reported the water pump was leaking. Had it replaced under the extended warranty. 2008 gs 460. 75000 miles. I was surprised about what I think is premature failure.

Thankfully the pumps are cheap and easy to replace.

I replaced a water pump on my other lexus, and it was only a little over $1000.

How'd you get such a large bill?
