my '06 only go up/down during start... why they bother doing that idk. kinda like saying "look here, you have HID." LOL
when i did the search i keyed in wrong words,so nothing really came up...but after typing adaptive headlights,i found out that some of the GS models do have the Adaptive Lights....pretty cool.
they all self adjust at start up for load leveling.
If you have an AFS button in the left drop down switchpanel, you also have adaptive lighting that turns a bit right and left to help shine "around" the corner as you turn.
I wanted to make my own active lighting... do a relay to the turn signal to turn on an extra light. Kinda like a backup light but on the sides in the front instead.

Not so sure about this. Mine has the button, but the "AFS" light does not illuminate when I start the car (in the instrument cluster). The button is illuminated, however, when the pod is open and the lights are on. When the car is on, the button does nothing. I also have the headlamp washer button but no pop-up washer in the trim ring around the headlamps. Weird.
My 09 GS460 has it, when I turn, they move with the steering wheel over some set speed, but when I turn the car on, they only go down, then up during the self test (or whatever they are doing). My uncles LS460 goes down, up and angles them towards the center, then widens back out to normal during the self test. Does the 450 do the horizontal self test also or does it only also do the vertical self test when turning on the car? Just curious.
When I was in college, I drove a 1977 Ford LTD that had that feature.
