Default Connected battery backwards on GS430...

I pulled a major bonehead move trying to do something in a hurry and connected a brand new battery up backwards on my 2006 GS430. My car is virtually dead now. The headlights, hazard lights, horn, and vanity mirror lights all work. I think that is about it. Nothing comes on in the dash, doesn't try to start, basically nothing. I've checked some of the fuses looking at the owners manual. I keep reading about a main fuse but don't know where that is located to check.

Does anyone have any ideas they could possibly help with for me to check?

Thanks in advance.

Let's hope you just blew the main fuse. I can look in the repair manual but it's for my 460. I think it should be similar as far as fuse location. Brb.

Now that's a real bummer,
To be frank this could literally be really bad or just several blown fuses, relays, and/or links and possibly the alternator. Did you see or smell any smoke? Did you notice the error before or after you tried to start your GS?
This typically reeked havick on older vehicles yet hopefully something as sophisticated as an 06 has several fuses/relays to prevent serious damage etc. I've seen the aftermath of others at the dealership I worked at but luckily I've never done this myself. Very easy with same size post and side-post batteries etc.

Hopefully you didn't tick off every ECM/computer in the car.

Keep us posted.

I can also gather anything you need to try and help out. Ill post this for now and start to check any/all fuses and relays. Hopefully you blew a main fuse before it did anything else.

I would think with as smart as these cars are that there has to be some sort of fail safe for this reason.

ouch. the thing with fuse is it regulate current, not direction of flow. diod does the polarity and most cars don't bother to have that. if you can see where to put in the batt you can see the red wire.

check the fuse but i think dealer is your best solution. they have more tools and more 'know how' people and this reverse is a major one.

when i replace my battery, i tell ya i checked this red wire like 10 times. make sure the neg have a wire hook into the body.

Ouch!!! Yea I would agree the deaer is ur best bet. Anything else that may have went wrong that you can"t see they should be able to find out. Do it right the first time.

I believe the '06 gs430 has a bus bar with the main fuse built in. I am not 100% sure... however, if you are lucky, only the main fuse blew. If that's the case, and it's in a bus bar, then the bus bar needs to be replaced.

It could be worse... I had a salesperson jump an RX backwards, and also popped the ecu for power steering...

he had to cut his internet to save money to fix his car. LOL j/k

it happen all the time, ppl don't report back. me with my over active imagination I always assume the worst, it's more fun. LOL

His lexus die middle of nowhere due to this problem, an alien abducted him cause he was the only 1 in middle of nowhere. than to escape he uses the only skill he know, he reverse polarity of the battery in the alien space ship and blows all their refuse and he died in the crash and therefor cannot report back to here. LOL
