So over the weekend I installed the Vaistech Sl2vi in my 2006 Lexus GS430. Wasnt that complicated, just a bit over welling due to the fact that i didnt want to ruin anything lol, Anyway, intalled and then programmed the unit, and it all went fine. When I fist was looking at these units my main concern was wanting the cool "ipod" intergration screen, that shows the artwork and the scrolling down of songs, and was told by a Vaistech rep that this unit would do such thing and allow for video play. I did not get that though, just and extra CD2 option that looks exactly like what it looks when you are playing regular CDs and only difference is the name of the song comes up. My questions are....

1.) Is my unit to old for this feature
2.) how do I do the bypass were my vehicle doesnt need to be in my emergency parking brake to view videos.
3.) The unit recognizes my iphone but does not charge it (i have an iphone 4S

sl2vi does not have artwork and graphical interface when playing, that's ml+ (which doesn't work on your car). and it doesn't charge iphone because sl2vi has the old 12v charging. you will need the adapter that changes it to 5v charger so you can charge iphone

It will charge it slowly...

IF you don't use the phone while its connected & you don't connect the iPhone before you turn on the car. If you connect after you turn on the car, it will work.

I just picked up an 06 GS430 with Nav/ML...I've been looking at ipod integration kit that will give me full Album, playlists, songs on the Nav screen and will allow to watch videos while in motion.

I couldn't find an answer as i saw few kits out there...Which kit do i want to get?

 

unfortunately vaistech will have no solution for you. the sl2vi and the ml+ both don't work on your gen4 system

I know Vaistech had a group buy on the ML+ a while back, but do they have specials at all?? I was looking to purchase sometime soon, but willing to wait if they ever have specials.

Also, can you recommend any installers in the Orange Co, CA area?? and the approx cost??

That really stinks...Video playback while moving i can pass on, Would need good integration for ipod/iphone and navi lockout bypass while in motion.

I thought the 06GS is a 3G, not a 4G

 

They are talking about the generation of the multimedia system/navigation. Although we all have 3rd Generation GS' our cars can have a 4th gen NAV or a 5th gen NAV etc. It all depends on the year of the GS.

correct, generation of car and generation of navigation are different

3rd gen gs: 06-11
4th gen gs: 13+

for 3gs (3rd gen gs), 06 have gen4 nav, 07-09 have gen5 nav, 10-11 have gen6 nav
