Default Rwd vs Awd

So I've been reading through the forum and it sounds like awd isn't good for lowering and getting wheels is that true? Like for rattles and other minor things too i read. And does the rwd feel like it has more power since it has less weight or are the rwd and awd similar? I have a rwd charger and I'm a big fan of it but rwd versions are a lot harder to come by then the awd thanks for ur help

AWD is not ideal for lowering because it will vibrate when lowered. As for rattles, i believe its the same for both models, some get lucky and get a quiet car. Depending on the part of the country...RWDs are plentiful, especially in Cali. Good luck!

AWDs generally hold their value a bit better.

I've driven rwd and awd and feel that you really don't pay any driving-fun penalty with awd.

So on the awd do you get vibrations with aftermarket wheels or do they only get vibrations when you lower the car?

Its when you lower the car.

The lower you go, the worse it is. It's also more noticeable in colder weather.

Is there's a reason for it? I understand that it happens but I don't get why? I'm steering towards rwd but there are so many more awd s to choose from..

We suspect that, after lowering, the axles sit at an "angled" position. This issue has been brought up MANY times! Here is a link to a thread that relates to this issue.....

i beg to differ on that point. I've been in the market for several months, and I consistently see an abundance of AWD models, selling for thousands less than comparably equipped RWD models. all else being equal, mileage etc, the AWD models are easier to find, and cheaper.

I guess it must be snow belt states then. In Indiana, the AWDs are more expensive than the RWDs. I know eBay is loaded with AWDs.

its because of location. they are cheaper down south because AWD isnt needed as much as it is up north, hence why they are more expensive up north.

If you don't need the AWD, don't get it ....... especially if you plan to modify the suspension. I personally would've bought a RWD but needed the AWD in Washington state.

Btw....RWDs look better because the front sits lower than the AWD from the factory
