My AWD is a beast in the ice and snow using X-Ice Xi2s. I can pretty much drive around pretending its July in January. GS300 (which I have) has kind of the same carbon issue as the IS250 ... Lexus will "fix" within factory warranty but this fix needs to be reapplied in my opinion rarely. Mine didn't start exhibiting any sign of the issue until it was over 100,000 km old... if I have to pay a couple hundred dollars for a top engine clean done properly every 100,000 km then that's fine with me its a drop in the bucket in terms of car maintenance really.

This is the day after Christmas, 2010. Here in North Jersey. Over 2 feet of snow.
Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires, which suck. They had 60-70% tread. I didn't switch the traction control off or dig it out other than wipe off part of the windshield and dig a little path to get the drivers door open as you can see.
It took about 4 back and forth "rocks" to get her unstuck.

The car is unreal in the snow. Unreal.
Agreed. I can't believe how this thing behaves in the snow. It's simply amazing.
