Default Off with this decal

After owing my GS for over a year and a half, I’m sick of looking at this walser dealership decal. So off it comes, here's how I did it.

Supply list:

Bug and tar remover
Heat gun 1500 watts
Extensions cord
Microfiber towels

1) Plug in the extension cord / heat gun and let it warm up for about 10-15 seconds to get it to operating temperature.

2) Hold the heat gun about 2-4 inches away from the decal and slowly start from one side to and other. Repeat this cycle until the whole decal is warm to a touch. The idea here is to heat up the adhesive so it will peel off with the decal. ( Note, if your heat gun is like a fire breathing blow torch. I highly recommend you holding it more then 2-4 inches away from your vehicle.)

3) Once the decal is warm to a touch, pick one side to start peeling. Do not use a razor blade, paint scrapper or a flat head screw driver. The only thing that I recommend is your finger nail. I started on the right corner of the decal.

4) Once you get the corner lifted off the surface, you still want to continue heating the decal and adhesive. So with that in mind use one hand hold the heat gun and with the other hand you wanna start peeling away slowly. At this time you start heating in between the decal and your vehicle.

5) As stated above peel away slowly, the more adhesive that comes off with the decal the easier the clean up will be. As you can see my decal came off pretty well with only a few spots of adhesive residue left on the car.

6) Grab your bug and tar remover and spray it directly to the affected area. Gently work it into the paint in circler motion with your finger or a microfiber towel. Once that is done raise it with water and do a final wipe with a clean microfiber towel.

7) And there you have it a nice clean finish…

That would have been the first thing I did when I got home. I can't stand dealer decals, I ripped off the decal on my friend fusion without asking him and he about had a heart attack. It didn't help that the decal snapped in half while I was tearing it off.

I know, it's been on my to do list forever that keeps getting pushed back until now.

I'm pretty sure this would work for you. In a few days here, I'll be attempting to take off my clear bra since its showing signs of age. There’s a slight discoloration and swirl marks in the bra. This should be interesting…

I have yet to see a decal that this didn't work on... and you don't need a fancy heat gun....
A simple hair dryer works fine too.
