Modified stock intake to sound like F-Sport intake
My friend has an IS with an F-Sport intake with bottom housing piece and it sounded good too.
So....I was bored and decided to mess around with my stock intake. I cut out a 4x2" from the bottom housing, a little smaller than the F-Sport one just in case it might affect the MAS. So, far no light came on. Might try to enlarge the hole later and run an air duct hose from the intake hole to the lower grille for more direct cold air flow. I also took out the resonator from the tube and decided to wrap the tube since I had some thermal wrap laying around.
Anyways, let me know what you guys think of my homemade intake and the sounds it produces now?
And for the people who gonna comment "Why not get a real one?" .
First off, I do have the F-Sport filter tho.
Second, they don't make the F-Sport bottom housing for the GS.
Third, it's not like I can't afford the F-Sport or the Joe Z ones. I had the K&N intake and it lite my dashboard up like Christmas. Also, the low end acceleration has a stall before you go. but, it has a nice sound when you floor it.
Fourth, It was to see if I can can make one coz it's sucks that they don't have that much variety of intake or a true CAI for the GS.
This was a test run with the 4"x2" cut out.

WTF IS WITH THE RATTLE BOX????????????????? Anyways the tube thing wrapped why? The sound is alright but honestly I don't like mods that can't be reversed, well unless to buy a new intake box. The sound is alright slight change from stock. Well atleast in my case I drive a gs350. More important stop cutting holes and tackles those rattles ASAP, I wouldn't drive the car this way, can't do it man.

You can hear it suck in air (the grasp sound) and then the growl when you accelerate instead of the sewing machine whining sound . It sounds much better than stock. You have have to be in the car to really hear and feel it from the recorded sound.

No, it's keeping the air inside the tube cooler. When I had the K&N intake the tube was hot to the touch. When I wrap the K&N and drove the same distance I took the wrap off and the tube was cool to the touch. I also use a Infrared Digital Thermometer to read the temp and it was significantly different temp.
The cooler the tube the cooler the air inside. This is my daily driver and I drive long distances for a long period of time. I also push my car hard most times too (heavy foot.)
So, every little bit helps.
