I know that 3gs have the hill assist but I am having a problem upon a uphill where my car shudders when accelerating. Is this normal? There are no lights flashing, just shudders only going up a hill.

 

I have no problems going up hills. Not normal. Are you using Premium gas and if so good gas? Might try a tank of 2 of Chevron or Shell and see if the problem persists.

 

i always use 91. Just came back from dealership and they told me that its normal for the car have shudder when going up the hill. Is this valid? I never had such problem with my other cars.

 

Does it do it going up hills around 15-20mph?

 

it only happens when @ full stop going up hill. When accelerating, the car jolts with a hard thud: almost the car is looking for a gear. I checked with a local lexus dealership and they told that its normal for 3gs to have such issue. I am having a hard time believing such where I never had such problem with my other cars before.

 

The thud may just be the car downshifting.

To avoid that jolt, try and get the car into a lower gear before approaching the hill.

 

So, do I shift manually when accelerating from full stop going up hill?

 

The GS has hill assist? I thought it was only the LS?
