Default engine cover clips ?

i went to change my parking lights over the weekend & noticed my car doesnt have the push type clips (let alone im missing (2) they are flat at the top no button to push like i have seen on many others gs's.

My question is i want to order the push type clips anybody know the part number ?

And how do you take the flat top clips out without breaking them ?

Do i just pry it out with a flathead ?

if their just the flat ones then yes you just pop them up with a flat head. look around the side of the clip and you should see a little indent on where you can put a flathead. imo those ones are much more of a pain in the ***.

Man, I should have done a better search on the forum to find the "clip removal" DIY. I went to take off my engine covers two weeks ago to replace parking lights. It was easy to remove the clips and for the life of me I couldn't understand why when I placed them back in they were not very secure at all. I tried over and over and I now I see what I was doing wrong!

Stupid, Stupid, Stupid

LOL!

Actually my 06 GS has 2 different types of clips as well. My thought is during my last visit to the Lexus dealer for service, maybe the lexus techs lost some and popped in whatever they had resulting in a different type of clip, but serving the same function. Most of my clips are the type shown in the removal clip thread and I also had 3 others that have a larger center (size of shirt button) that did not push down and I used a small screw driver to pop it up the center and they came right out.

you'll need two flatheads and pry on both side at the same time. i have pliers that are bent at a 90 angle, those worked great. either way, you have to put some *** into it, or at least i had to , to get them out. i got mine from toyota for $2 each. they come in a pack of 10. they were $3.50, but i moan and grumbled when the parts lady told, so she dropped it to $2. hehe
