Have a 2010 GS. Got e-mail from Lexus dealer that there is a update for the Hard Disk Drive Nav. Cost $169, plus labor to install. Question: Is it really necessary at this time.?; If you have had it done, what does the dealer charge to update? Sounds high to me. I update my Garmin for my SUV from my computer for free. I only have Safety connect. If you have "Inform", I know you can get a new address by calling in and having them to send it to your vehicle.

It just depends on how much traveling you do with your 3GS.... Before we got an RX, my GS was used for vacations alot so I updated every other year... Now that I won't be using my GS for near as much travel, I probably wont update it near as much...

I would agree with neurocity to just order it from Sewell and do it yourself... Very easy to do.

 

i don't think you can do it yourself. the usb is just the authentication key, dealership has the dvd and they need to connect their computers and what not in order to update the hdd map data.
