nav updates come once a year. I believe a new one should be coming out soon...

I am waiting for the next update as several roads have changed or been added around me since I bought the RX. 10.1 will not have the most recent changes, I believe it is a year old. I do feel $200 is a bit much $100 would be better.

In addition to the $199 MRSP, isn't it another $100 or so for a dealer to update the map in the vehicle?

$300[200map+100labor] was what it cost from v8 to v9 from the dealer. it required firmware update so it took few hours. v10 only had few updates so I skipped but I am looking forward to v11 [sometime in November] and hope Lexus have newer routing calculation method on v11 because sometimes its really strange how it calcuates the route in the city.

The thumb drive does not contain the map data. You can't just plug it into you usb and expect it to update. It contains a data key that allows the Techstream laptop to update your hard drive with the map data.

If you go into the settings. You can make some adjustments on how the calculations are made.

For example. If you choose the shortest route. It will take you off the highway. Go on to a side street then back on to the next highway. To save about a 1/4 mile not going through the long interchange.

Another is going around private roads.
