Default tranmission problem with 07 gs350?

my buddy has 07 gs350 and we were driving to a local casino and experienced a transmission slip on the freeway incline entrance. The car hesitated, almost looking for a gear, and with a "thud" sound, the car jerked. I have 06 and never experience such thus arising the question, is it the transmission problem or something else? The car currently has 69k miles and he is only owner.

I hate to read something like this on a car I just bought although mine is a '11.
Reminds me of the Acura TL-S I just traded in.

Update:

Currently @ the dealership and my friend's gs350 needs a brand new transmission but its covered under Powertrain warranty. Talk about cutting it close, he has 67k miles and the warranty expires @ 70k.

Powertrain warranty on his 07 GS350 should have been extended to 6 yr / 100k per the letter we all got after the valve spring recalls.

I don't like reading this either as I have felt similar symptoms on my car. I am planning to take it to the dealer for a transmission drain/refill. I am at 90k miles and no warranty.
I am screwed if its a tranny issue!

Well I had the tranny drain/refill done today and all checked out okay. Tranny is in good working condition. Lexus tech said the oil looked good for 90k miles. Glad I decided to get this done now.

Not sure what I felt those past couple of time but seems to have been nothing.

Sure, I can confirm what I got. Sorry about the quality, I just found the letter and took a quick picture of it with my cell phone. That $1500 just expired and I didn't even use it

if you got your valve springs replaced in your car, then the extended transmission warranty is given to you
