LSD is optional on all GS ?
The second gen ISx50 does not have LSD either (the "pre-torque semi-lsd" that will simulate lsd, however it's not close to the real thing). Only the ISF does
first gen IS had LSD as an option

I'm guessing you owned a car at one point with LSD, probably just didn't realize it
an open differential will apply power to the wheel with the least resistance. So if one wheel loses traction it just keeps spinning (if you've ever seen a car doing a burn out with only 1 wheel spinning, thats your standard open diff)
LSD applies power equally to both wheels.

IS F added it in 2010. 2008-2009 models used electronics to simulate a diff....
