Default Broken Spoiler - any ideas?

I was backing up and tapped a steel stair with the my rear trunk spoiler.

I only saw that the plastic cracked and don't know much yet on how to replace it. I don't know if it's painted under the spoiler or what. I saw one replacement spoilet that spans above the existing one and has lights. I'm not looking forward to bringing it to the body shop for just for the palstic to be painted so do any of you have an alternatives?

have no idea what you're talking about, plastic cracked? Do you mean the clear coat on the rear trunk spoiler? Take pics so some of us can give you input

Aren't those spoilers just stuck on with heavy duty adhesive? You shoud be able to get the damaged one off and replace it with a new one. I wouldn't thnk that would cost too much. I think you can buy those spoilers already painted to your car color.

Default Broken Spoiler

They usually have 2 to 3 screw in them to hold them on as well. They are drilled through the trunk lid and tighten from inside the trunk. I had to have one replaced once on an Avalon Limited. Check a junk yard or just order a new one, as they will most like charge as much for repairing and repainting a new one. They are around $300 new and can be ordered in the same color as your present vehicle. Things for Lexus are expensive. The one for the Avalon limited was $200.

Great info Valley! I always wondered if they were screwed on or just stuck with double sided tape.

i'm pretty sure our's is not screwed in, like he said USUALLY they are, but our spoiler's have so much little surface area there's no point in screwing them in

Looked one up on Sewell Parts. . . . . it says "Easy Installation". To me that sounds like no drilling!

OK after a little web search, I found that a couple sites have painted ones for $164 to $169 each. The stock spoiler is ABS painted plastic and the installation can be both tape or screws. I just got to look at the trunk lid and see how it is attached. They also have a $79 one primer but then it still needs paint.

Oh well it looks like a xmas present to my GS.
