hi there, i have an 06 gs430 and i was changing my REAR pads
the did the passenger side, the caliper went back on perfectly fine (no love taps required)
however on the rear driver side, it just wouldn't go on, the piston was pushed all the way in
after finally getting the caliper onto the rotor, bolted in, i lowered the car n started it up
i put the car in drive and the car barely moved in my driveway, feels as if the brake is on
i believe my rear caliper is seized, is there a way I can remove the slider pin and try to loosen it up? or am i better off buying a new caliper... the PISTON is fine, it seems to be the slider pin and the assembly that connects to it
so if i read you correctly you were doing a routine brake job on the rear of your car, compressed the pistons, put the new pads on and reinstalled everything with no issue but now your having an issue that the car wont move?
I lubed the slide pin on the passenger side, the drivers side wouldnt move, so i figured I would at least try to get the caliper on the car so I can move it around in my driveway while Im trying to figure out what to do with it
well when u get the chance take the driver side back off and try to use penetrating oil to break the slide pin free. let it sit and try to twist it out. you can also try using heat to break it free but that can get a little dangerous and should be a last resort only.
I had this same problem...i ended up using vise grips, hammers and such to get the pin free....i spent quiet a bit of time getting it out. Only had this issue on one side. I ended up freeing it ordered new boots and new slider pins from Sewell Lexus, greased and installed them. But this pin is on both sides...the lower part of the caliper...the top is a bolt i believe unless i have it backwards...
this was the worst experience...didnt plan on having an issue on a simple job

same here...both rear calipers seized. Had to replace both... Love with lube didn't help.... I was told that the problem is keeping the car in the ...garage, moister doesn't dry out.
get to the dealer and talk to them and explain you know there's a TSB for it and see what happens. Worth a go.
I had the same problem on my 06 GS with 42k and they did the replacement under a TSB, what was important that the car had a full Lexus service history.
If that fails then take it off and try a local garage, I think a new rear is $400+.
figured it out. both rear caliper bottom pin were seized so that it doesn't push the pad forward from the rear; therefore causing uneven wear and not being able to install rotors correctly. DAMNIT!!!
