There are two clips holding cables. I too would like to know what tool to use to unclip those clamps before removing the battery cover.

When I changed my battery I could not for the life of me get those clips unclipped. I just couldn't figure it out, I couldn't see it properly and the release mechanism didn't seem to want to do anything no matter how much I played with it.

Eventually, I forced it open with tools and completely mangled it. After replacing the battery I just threw that stupid cover in the trash.

You sound like a snob calling auto zone workers dropouts, in fact i can name few dropouts that are millionaires now days that have accomplished more in life then you ever will. To the op it takes some time to play with it to come off just like binary jay said.

I end up taking it to the dealership to get a factory battery for $135 with installatiion. My car still had an original battery on it making the thing 5-6 years.

i just replaced mine at my local auto parts...they even installed it....put a Optima Red top size 25....I thought there would be a little more "Crispness" to the car, did not really effect anything. My old car i had changing out the batter helped the car turn on faster and just felt a little nicer overall.
