There is a company that repairs these navigation units. Its www.hitechserv.com and fill out the shipping form. You will need to remove the unit from the car which is fairly simple and can be found on YouTube. Hope this helps, I know it definitely cheaper.

Here's what I found out today from the dealer:
Of course the unit has to be replaced and it's $1760! Labor is $325.40! I've had that piece out a few times and it only takes 15-20 minutes to remove it. That's a helluva lot for labor costs, especially since they already have the unit removed for diagnostics. I'm still contemplating...

a lot of people in the isx50 forums have had this problem. Lexus should really do something about it.

can you post a few threads about this nav screen going out issue?

these cars have only been out for 5-6 years. given lexus quality wouldn't expect this to happen yet. otherwise there is no different than bmw or mb

OP ... Have you tried asking another dealer for an estimate? They will usually match a competing dealership. Short of that, I would definitely order it and DIY if it's just a plug and play especially. I'm assuming no extended warranty ... maybe make a plea to corporate for good will?

Like Henry said, this is typical for MB, BMW and other Germans, but Lexus? I sure hope were not seeing a trend here. I always thought our electronics were pretty bulletproof.

I asked about it but then my service advisor threw in "a complete interior and exterior detail for the car, fill-in the rock chips on the hood and do the same for my IS if I brought it to them before the end of August". How can I pass that up? I think they already know they're ripping me off...

These were all on the first page when i searched for "screen" in the 2is forum. I did a lot of research when my gf's screen went out on her 07 is, luckily she was under warranty.

I seriously doubt it. You wouldn't have the antenna or the harddrive/software. I could be wrong though.

Also, I think you would at least need the NAV disk drive in the glove box. right?

Damn that's a lot of money but I guess that's how lexus stays in business.
