isn't the other problem with huper optik, finding someone in your area that can install it?

Yes! And further more, just because you find a shop that CAN install it, that doesn't mean they know what they are doing. Huper Optik is an extremely thick film and needs to be heated to fit the curves of your windows (as does any film). People who don't know what they are doing tend to overheat the film and cause "ghosting" in the tints.

I really like Llumar for ceramic.

Have some courtesy and be positive. The OP wants "our" opinions, don't undermine his intelligence by throwing comments like that! It's disrespectful honestly.

Living in Texas, window tint is good idea for the interior for the car and driver. However, I have no clue about how dark should I get?

My previous cars came with tint and this is going to be my first time tint and I would like to have some ideas before I go to tint shop.

Would you please share any thoughts and experience about window tint?

(How dark the film(type), safe for driving, looking good)

Thank you,

I did Llumar 20% all around and Suntek CXP at 45% on the windshield. Apart from the 3 tickets I got the day after having my car tinted, I've had no issues.

I got Huper Optik 30 in my GS. Works great at rejecting heat and it's legal and not too dark at all. I feel a ton of difference in heat during Houston summers just putting my hand in the sun coming through the untinted windshield vs. the side windows. I can recommend the same place I got mine installed in Houston if you are in town. They did a good job. Got a decent deal too with lifetime warranty.

Wrong.

This forum is specific to Lexus GS. While this tint law is specific to TINT LAW which that tint law website will answer more clearly on tint law. I'm pointing him to a place that answer many of his answer relate to tint law.

I have seen many forum give answers like "I have 5% and it looks awesome" while disregard for the law which OP could be wasting his money when he get pull over.

I have 20% all around here in Houston and i still think they could be darker, if only they had 10%. Anyhow, you gonna spend around 200-250 for tints all around with lifetime warranty here. Be should sure it's brand name tints like Llumar, 3m, FormulaOne, Pinnacle Film to name a few.
