AWD vs. RWD
And to be absolutely honest, I am a very mundane driver. The extra performance that comes with a RWD would be lost on me. I have been driving AWD cars (except for 7 years I spent on a Caribbean island) since 1984. Okay, technically, my 1982 Subaru wagon was a 4WD...oh gosh did it have traction. But remember AWD helps you START moving....it will NOT help you STOP moving. To quote Han Solo, "Don't get cocky, kid." People sometimes forget that cars don't stop well on snow and ice.
