I have a 06 gs300 awd and my headlights started to turn off by themselves recently. I got my passenger side bulb replaced from the dealer and all was fine until my driver side started the same thing.
my question is, when the light shuts off on its own, i put the setting from auto to off and back to auto and it turns back on. is there a problem with the bulb or the ballast/harnest etc? (forgive me if i didnt get the wording right) to my knowledge from regular bulbs, if the bulb burnt out like the dealer said, they shouldnt even turn on, right? or am i wrong?
the dealer told me that the bulb is burnt so i had to pay for the first, but the more i think about it, i dont understand how they would turn back on and i dont want to pay for the second.
More facepalms all around. You could have searched the forum and found a wealth of information on this topic in less time than it took you to type that up.
Really, when I search for "headlight" in the 3GS subforum the first page of results brings back a number of threads with titles that are obviously pertinent.
Sorry to be terse but it seems like there is a new thread created either about headlights going out or moonroofs not working every other day in here.
I was having the same problem with my passenger headlight until I installed replacement 6000k d4s bulbs which I purchased from fleabay.
I installed these bulbs recently and I'm very happy with the results, my headlights are now white with a slight blue tint instead of yellowish white like the factory bulbs. They look very similar to the IS they have pictured in the auction listing.
