New RECALL INFO
Toyota Motor Sales USA Inc. announced a new recall Thursday of hundreds of thousands of vehicles that could have its gas pedals become stuck in floor mats.
It is believed that was the cause of a 2009 crash that killed four members of a family in Santee, CA a suburb of San Diego.
The recall affects 20,000 2006 and early 2007 model year Lexus GS 300 and GS 350 all-wheel drive vehicles, about 372,000 2004 through 2006 and early 2007 RX 330, RX 350, and RX 400h vehicles, and approximately 397,000 2004 through 2006 Highlander and Highlander HVs.
Additionally, the company amended a November 2009 recall to include approximately 603,000 2003 through 2009 4Runners, about 17,000 2008 through 2011 Lexus LX 570s, and around 761,000 2006 through 2010 RAV4s.

How many threads do we need for this at one time?
Anyway. The whole thing is bogus, I'm sure Toyota/Lexus are not the only cars out there that have had pedals get stuck under floor mats and stuff. The usual argument then follows: Why didn't these people just put the car in neutral, turn it off, slam the brakes, etc. Blah, blah, blah free gas. :P

This is based on the completion of the NHTSA review. Basically, get these cars in for the floormat change, and they'll close the books on the investigation. So Toyota just want to get this done with.

Wait, why is this question in this thread again? :P
