08 GS 350, 42k miles. Recently noticed a burning smell outside of the vehicle after driving for min. of 30 minutes (aggressive), and even after 2 hour road trip the smell was noticed. I pull car into the garage and notice the smell. It reminds me of when you have your oil changed and their is residual oil that was not cleaned off the engine. I have noticed my acceleration is SLIGHTLY slowering when I aggressive drive. I would not have even brought this up if I had not noticed the smell.
1. Oil level is perfect, I check weekly
2. Valve recall completed in December
3. No smell in car
4. Upon opening hood the smell is faint, but not as strong as when I first exit the vehicle.
Any wisdom? I have an appointment tomorrow and would appreciate any ideas.
Might be the smell of the heat coming of the exhaust, cars tend to smell after they have been ran hard. I
smell like motorcycle everytime I get off of it cause I ride the hell out of it!
I have noticed a similar odor on my 06 GS300AWD. Most noticable on mine right after initial startup. Tried changing Cabin Air Filter with no success. Doesn't always happen and isn't overwhelming when it does happen, just a faint burnt oil like smell.
I too have a burnt oil smell on my 07 350. I notice it if I drive over 80 mph and then get out. I had the spring recall done and attribute it to this. I'm thinking it is the rear valve cover and will have them check it when I go in for the next round of recalls. This is what I feared most about the spring recall. Breaking open an engine while it is still in the car is just asking for problems. You just can't get the proper angle on things to do them right while it is still in the car, especially gaskets.
