Default Lexus CPO... worth it? Any Issues?

When I purchased my 2006 GS300 it was a CPO car. I also purchased the Platinum warranty on top of that. I'm thinking about canceling the Platinum service because it is my understanding that it only gives me an additional year of coverage (as long as I keep it under 100K miles). At the time they told me if I bought the additional service I could get the 1.9% APR loan... I've since found out that I would have qualified for the 1.9% even without the purchase of the additional Platinum service.

Anyone have any thoughts or related experiences?

I just bought 2007 GS350 AWD CPO in October. I also added the warranty. My understanding is the platinum warranty is 6 years from your cpo date of purchase or until the car reaches 100k miles not 6 years from the original new sale of the vehicle.

I felt it was worth it in my case as the car only had 24K miles when I bought it and I only plan on doing 12k per year give or take. I also bought the wheel protection as pot holes do get pretty bad around here this time of year.

^ you might want to check in on that but i wouldnt be so sure. i mean lexus has a warranty of 5yrs/50k so does that mean right before thats up you can buy a platinum warranty and get an additional 6 years? sounds too good to be true and you know what they say about that.

I thought factory was 4 yr/50 k and the platinum warranty is from first date of use so a 6yr/ 100k will give you an additional 2 years of coverage past the factory warranty. I think I have a 7yr/100k

The wording on extended warranties is confusing on purpose. You aren't adding 6 years by getting a 6 year extended warranty.

Think of the extended warranty not as an extension on the factory warranty but a replacement for it.

f'n crooks. I despise car dealerships. Bright side is at least I have an additional 2 years. I wont be anywhere near 100K miles. If my car starts acting up after that I'll do what I've always done, trade it in. If anything major goes in that time it will be worth it. Otherwise its like paying for insurance.

My 06 GS300 is a CPO and I have the platinum warranty but mine covers up to 125,000 miles. I probably paid too much for it but it has since paid for itself with the grinding at startup issues, both headlights being replaced, and the fuel pump taking a crap. Definitely worth having it in my opinion.

Just to follow up..Dropped my car off today for the fuel pressure fitting recall. Asked the Service guy to check the computer to give me the dates on my warranty. Factory runs out 10/11 which is 4 years from the original sale. My extended ends 10/16. I bought the car 10/10 therefore my warranty is 6 years from the date of purchase OR 100K miles. My car currently has 28K miles so I'm good and covered for a little while. I feel better about the extended purchase now.

you can always get a previously owned non certified and just have the dealer check it out for you when you buy it. I got my LS non certified and had to have a small brake service done, alignment, and that was it. I saved big money that way. In the end as long as the car is under factory warranty I would say you are pretty safe. Plus we have heard from other members who got a CPO car and it was in an accident. CPO doesnt meant gauranteed no issues

When I got my car CPO they said I could extend the CPO up to 6 years 100k for an additional $1,600 which is cheaper than the platinum service, I think they got you!

Even if it is CPO the service reps will blow u off when u take it in for a complaint...for example...i had a weird grinding noise coming from the front underside of the car...took it in first time...service rep says its normal engine sound, second time with another service rep and same thing...she said its normal engine sound, third time with yes another service rep...he had the decency to bring a tech out and then finally confirmed its a failing water pump. Heres my point...it toom 3 freakin appointments to address the issue with my car. With a failed water pump...do u know the type of damage that would cause ur car?! Blown motor without a doubt....its definitely good to have peace of mind, BUT its all crap if your dealership sucks at addressing your concerns. IMHO...it all depends on the dealerships service...i can honestly say san diego lexus service is horrible.

do you have to bump every cpo thread to complain about your water pump issue? if it was that big of a deal why not call corpo or go to a different dealer?
