Default Spec.dock

Has anyone mounted a spec.dock in their ashtray on a 3GS as part of their iphone/ipod integration setup?

I would like to know whether the height covers up any buttons.

this looks like a great option and place to put your iPod.

I just googled how it looks and came across a DIY from IS forums, https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...cs-inside.html and then I came across this http://stores.homestead.com/2point5/...V2I/Detail.bok

Yeah it's pricey for what it is. But it is pretty cool. It would be perfect if it was mounted a little deeper and was all black.

yeah, it's basically just a stand and you still have to go through all the cutting and stuff to connect the cable. 150 bucks sounds pretty pricey.

i also think it'd be cool if it can get deeper, but maybe the vents underneath is blocking.

Dice or Vaistech should fabricate this at scale in China and sell it as a $30 add on. Even then it would be very high margin.

the full kit isnt that bad. I wish I didnt have mine as I would like to try this out.

I wonder if there is really any cutting if it replaces the ash tray you can remove it from the bottom. Hopefully someone will try this out and post a DIY thread.

The other question I just sent them is if they can install a switch so I can select USB inputs between my iPHone which I would keep in the dock, and my iPod which I have in the armrest compartment.

no kidding, this is basically just a piece of plastic, nothing else. manufacturing cost is minimal

i am pretty sure you have to drill / cut. read the thread in 2is forum and that's an example. it replaces the "tray" inside the ashtray area, not the whole assembly as far as i can see, which is a close cover, so in order to run the wire you will have to cut something
