I just picked up my 2005 GX this afternoon. First thing I need is a iPod adapter. Ive been searching and I know I can get the adapter from Vais but I found a thread where a member said he had iPod use through the Costal lockpick.
Interesting. I went the Coastal Lockpick route. It was $250ish. Install took me all of 45 minutes. On top of the iPod interface, it unlocked the warning screen, and allows dialing and nav input while moving. The dash is MUCH easier than you would think. One 10mm socket and a Phillips screwdriver. All plug and play...
I went on their site but I dont see any mention of iPod use, am I reading it wrong?
I'll answer my own question since coastal responded to my email.
If you have the factor RSES you cant use the AV on the lockpick for your iPod / iPhone. Since I do have the RSES I guess I'll have to buy the Vais unit to use my iPod / iPhone.
Thanks for the folow up for the rest of the community. Im certain this is a stupid question, but whats RSES?
Rear Seat Entertainment System. Basically the rear screen.
I saw your thread where you installed your Prestigious Society modules. How does your iPod / iPhone sound? I wish my GX didnt have factory nav so I can install a aftermarket nav so itd make my life easier and cheaper to get what I want.
As for the Prestigious kits, I think you may be thinking of rominl. Hes a mod here as well as a vendor and installer I believe. I have factory nav as well in both of my Lexuses and am trying to get the best setups I can by improving upon what I already have. Thankfully folks like rominl and others here are very helpful in helping guys like us figure out how best to outfit our cars with whats out there.

the vaistech sl2i-up / sl2vi and prestigious meis are both using analog video and audio. to be honest i think the sound quality is very good already, for daily use most people i have dealt with they don't complain at all.
if you want the best sound, you need to go digital and that would be vaistech vml (audio) and ml+ (audio + video). of course the setup is a tad more expensive and the unit is a bit harder so it's harder to hide, but you get the best sound possible. some customers they have lossless songs in their ipod, etc... and they only want the best, so they get these units.
