What I fail to understand is the price difference of $40K between the LS460L and the LS600hL. Who in the right mind pays $40K for a hybrid option on practically same car?

One has to really love Mother Earth in order to be willing to shell out extra 40 grand to save few gallons of gas.

Well, the $100 increase isnt too bad. It wont hurt the current gen sales. Hopefully the 4GS will stay in the same price range, otherwise it will join Infiniti M.

Weird time to increase prices, but it's kind of insignificant anyway.

Paying cash for used cars FTW anyway.

It has (almost) nothing to do with saving gas, and everything to do with the greatly increased engine power on the hybrid.

Half that, half being the trendy factor.

If that is the case, then it would be the highest price per horse power ever paid.

There is no incentive to buying the 600h. It's basically the same car as the 460l but it has 438HP instead of 380HP. In my opinion 58 HP does not equate to an extra $40,000 on the sticker price. Furthermore, the 600h is slightly slower 0-60 in 5.5 vs the 460l's 5.4 secs. This is due to the fact that the 600h weighs about 800 lbs more than the 460l, kind of ridiculous if you ask me.

Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems like comparing an LS600h to an LS460l would be like comparing a GS450h to a GS460, right? It really doesn't make any sense. I bought a GS450h because I was able to get a one for the same price I would've paid for a comparable GS460. To me, it wasn't important to have a huge trunk; I wanted the 450h because it was faster. That's just it though. The LS600h isn't faster, and it's outrageously priced, and it's pretty much the same car.

Whats the deal?
