2011 GS460 Review
Left lane News
Leftlane's bottom line
We expected to be able to easily write off the GS 460 given its age and Lexus’ general aversion to enthusiastic driving. But a week behind the wheel of the smooth and capable GS revealed a surprisingly complex and enjoyable luxury sports sedan. For most buyers, its positive attributes, like its unflappable demeanor and unparalleled refinement, will probably outweigh its technical and dynamic demerits.
That it’s a veritable bargain in its class makes it all the more appealing as a below-the-radar sports sedan.

original Giugiaro-penned 1991 GS300 (a rebadged Toyota Aristo),
A hybrid – dubbed GS 450h – was briefly on offer before sluggish sales forced its removal from the North American market.

2011 GS460 is special order only....crock of **** if you ask me. They're either phasing it out, or something else is coming soon.

I do love the 460 though. All signs so far point to this being the last of the V8 in a midlevel Lexus sedan (non F model) which is very sad. It is such an outstanding combination. Looking at autotrader, there is more than I really expected. Lexus makes it seem like they sell 2 a month.

there was only 1 2011 460 in the entire USA last week when I bought my 350....and it had been special ordered by a customer, so they couldn't sell it to me. So selling 2/month is about right, at this point.

The reason it's special order is because they won't move off the lots. The dealer practically gave it to me. This is back in '08 when gas prices were still high, but dramatically dropped after I purchased it...lucky me. But, I don't think it's special order because of what you had thought...my 2 cents.

Exactly, it's special order to ensure pricing discipline. As Kev said - when they were sitting on lots, they had to give them away. By making it special order, they can manage supply to demand and maintain pricing discipline.
I don't know how many they sell, but I am sure it is much more than 2/month. At 2/month it would not be cost effective.

Jtrue28 - I just noticed your sig. So you got another GS350AWD. Beautiful color - deep sea mica. I love that one. Deep Sea Mica/Gray is my favorite color combo right now.

not yet. It's been raining the second I drove it out of the "delivery garage" and we have 4 inches of snow on the ground today. once I can clean it up I'll get some good pictures to post. love the car....they must have changed/upgraded the suspension since 2008....car is softer, even with run-flats. It hasn't been sunny enough to tell a difference in the colors of paint, although "mica" is definitely not as "flashy" as the pearl colors. It's still a nice color though.
