Default Need Help - Re-installing rubber trim under hood

What's up everyone, I was trying to pull off my front grill tonight and took off the rubber trim that goes along the top of the headlights and front grill. It is held on by small black clips (sort of like a T shape) that go into small holes under the rubber trim.

I am unable to get it back on b/c the black clips to pull up high enough for me to work them into the holes.

Does anyone know any tips or tricks to get this rubber trim back on? When I close my hood, there is a slight gap between the hood and grill/headlights b/c the trim is missing.

Thanks.

eh those things are a pita and usually break when you pull them out if your not careful. are they stretched out at all? if not the easier way is to put them into the rubber first then install it on the car.

yup, the only correct way is to somehow pull out those clips (if you don't break them), put back in the holes in the rubber trim, and then pop them back

That's what I was thinking but I could not get the black clips out at all. Worked on one clip for 20 min last night an decided I'll give it a try during the day b/c I only could see so much with the garage light and flashlight.

Do you know how to pull out those clips? They def are a pita.

when we plastidip'd my grille, just used a pair of plyers to carefully pull them out. you have to be really careful not to stretch them out when you pull up on them. if their stretched out, their useless
