Default grille question! does it fit

i just bought a 07 gs350. so far i love the car minus the engine tapping noise. i bought a grille set that said it was for a 08-09 gs350. i figured they are all the same. the top main grille fits i guess, fine. but the bottom one is a bit more smiley face shaped. did i get the wrong piece or are the bumpers different on the 2008 from the 2007?

welcome to clublexus, congrats on your new car!

i know for a fact that the bottom is different but the top grille. fit in almost perfectly. a little tight but i can probably assume thats how it goes.ive done a lot of tuning and building of show cars. i have never seen an aftermarket part that fit flawlessly. im going to see my bosses car today he has an 06' with the top and bottom. when i see his ill know whether or not its the same. i got my tape measure with me.lol. b.t.w thanks for the welcome and response.
i do have another question though, this is about lowering springs on the gs. im planning on going 22 inch staggered.22x8 and 22x10 or something like that. do i have to lower this car? or will it fall in place? ive never touched a gs before.and if i do have to drop it on lowering springs.do they make a camber kit for this car? and/or is it neccesary? thanks again sorry for all the questions.

yup Henry is correct. They changed the grilles in 08 so you would have to get one for the 06-07. Looking at your boss' car will not make a difference since you both have the same grille.

As far as 22s, yes they will fit but imo you will need to lower the car a bit. I had 22s but in the end they are just too big for the car. Your overall diameter will be bigger by about 2% so that will help a bit with closing the wheel gap but not much imo.

congrats and welcome to CL.
there are no camber kits available so far, unless you wanna do some search for the ISx50 parts.

for the grille, yes, i was talking about the upper grille (with the lexus emblem). the shape is close, but on the facelift (08+) it's a bit different especially at the bottom

i don't have much exposure on 22s so i can't say much. but overall, i never put wheels on unless i drop the car

take it to an alignment shop and they'll adjust the toe and get it as close as possible. you'll have camber, just the price you have to pay to play.

imho, the largest wheel size i would go with is 20". sure you could go with 21" or 22", but it will not look good unless you are slammed using coilovers. and i've only seen one GS on 22" so far that i would say looks good.

also note that getting the right fitment (offset, wheel and tire sizes) are all important factors you need to consider. imagine going with 22" and you need to shave or roll your fenders to make them fit! but of course, that all depends on the style you are going after (vip style, etc).

as others have mentioned, there are no camber kits available for our 3GS. the only thing you can do is go with a less aggressive drop (with some wheel gap) to preserve tire life. if looks are important (slammed and tucked), you have no choice but to buy new tires.

one other tip: be very careful when you change the cabin air filter, see the link below for details (it will cost you alot of money if you break it!):
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...er-filter.html

if you are the DIY type of guy, make sure you research our forums before you do it.

that's where your nav dvd goes... the factory cd/dvd changer is in dash

for alignment, camber is not adjustable but a good shop will toe in more to compensate the wear

about the alignment i was thinking we have a local place here in miami called "miami chassis" they did my accord when i dropped it. the actually bend the forks with a pneumatic machine attached to a system very similar to the regular alignment machine.that car ran a straight line not a single bit off. i can do that. now about the nav cd. does that mean there is a cd/dvd in there? and is their anyway i can make my navigation system play dvd's? i dont think my car came with that option. is there some sort of program i can add or something? btw thanks again and sorry for all these newbie questions. i cant input any info on any post here yet since i dont know anything yet. but ill learn enough to help others out soon enough.

bent the arm to get alignment back to spec? that doesn't sound right...

no, it's just for nav dvd, nothing else. don't try to stick anything else in there. if your car has mark levinson (look at radio face), then you already have dvd changer and you can watch dvd when car is stopped. if you want to watch it when car moving, read the faq thread up up on this forum for more info. or you can get integration like vaistech to play video from ipod.

start with the faq sticky thread, it has tons of info

no mark levinson. the actual idea of bending the arms once you have the perfect drop, is perfect. i just dont know how to explain it. they put this machine with the laser levelthing(like all the alignment machines). they put one attached to each wheel with a rod the pops out towards the inside of the wheel well. then the machine calculates what it needs and slowly does one tire at a time.
when its all done. all 4 tires are perfectly aligned. if you live down in florida it would be a good idea to check them out. i believe they are a frame damage shop. they also have another shop where they make their own carbon fiber parts. this was a few years back. judging by todays economy the carbon fiber shop may have gone under but people still crash. i found a link to their site. pparently they are a frame shop http://www.miamichassis.com/os.html
