Default A/C air filter change help

Hello,
I chaned my a/c filter a few weeks ago, and the past couple weeks I have been getting a gasoline smell coming inside the car when i turn the a/c on.
I follwed the directions on here on changing the filter, but I think I might have damaged that little door. An advise would be great.

Thanks

I don't think the gas smell and the air filter, broken door or not, would be related.

Could be a coincidental exhaust leak, is your car sounding louder than it used to?

What makes you think you damaged it if you followed the directions? You just popped off the outer cover after putting the car in recirculate mode right? Filter just pops out from there, there shouldn't have been any more doors in the way.

Thank you for the reply.
I actually had to force the little door for the a/c filter open. When I click on re-circulate button, I can hear the gears moving, but it seems that something os off in there. When I open the outher cover, the door is not completley closed

I think you may have broken that door. That's a very expensive mistake.

Even if his recirculation door is broken, he shouldn't be smelling gas in the cabin and should be looking at an exhaust leak or worse. Agreed?

oh yes, i agree that has nothing to do with gas smell. but probably coz' the door is broken, maybe it's getting fresh air all the time and whatever outside (could be OP's car or other cars around) gets in

Right... I guess there's not enough information. Does he smell it all the time, or just when he's stopped at a light behind a 20 year old civic with fart can exhaust tips, rusted muffler, and missing catalytic converter?

Moderators, can this post be taken out of this thread to start a new one to help the OP get an answer? It is quite obvious it was posted to an unrelated topic.
