Currently have an 08 IS250. Looking to trade it in for either a GS350 of Jaguar XF. I'm going to meet with my lexus sales rep this week to negotiate on a 2010 GS. I have lexus loyalty, which means I have an advantage over other buyers, according to the dealer. Bottom line I can spend less and have the AWD GS350 for a lot less than the Jaguar. Sounds like a no brainer. But with the current situation with Toyota/Lexus and the recalls, I'm a little apprehensive about getting into another Lexus. My IS250 had dash rattles, which were eventually fixed, but the GS seems to have the same problem. What to do?

I have an 06 GS and my mom has an 08 GS and I have never noticed dash rattles. As for the recalls, they really haven't been that big of a deal to switch to jaguar which doesn't seem to hold it's value as well as a lexus and seems to have some upkeep maintenance costs. I would go with the GS, I'm sure the next GS will come out sometime soon if you can wait.

I have an 09 and it is great...little rattle here and there in the cold weather but most vehicles you'll find have a rattle here and there, not every vehicle is perfect.

My acura ('99) doesn't have the same type of rattle my GS dash has.

If there is a rattle here and there...something is wrong. Or the fit and finish is OFF.

The XF is going to have issues but will be a cool car to drive. Its up to priorities and how much dealer time you can handle

You asked the same question relating to GS460 vs. Jag last week.
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...ice-gs460.html

The GS350 doesn't have a superior engine or transmission to the Jag like the Lexus does, but it does have better fuel efficiency V6 vs V8. However it is slower.

So if you want a faster car, which will stay current longer, has better interior, better handling, better suspension, you get Jag.

If you want a fuel efficient car then you buy the Lexus GS350.

I think from depreciation perspective there isn't much gain with lexus because it will be phased out soon and will take a hit when the new model comes out. from a reliability and customer sat perspective there is no difference. Jag is right there with Lexus and actually has higher customer satisfaction.

How about you drive them both and see which one you like better? The XF, which I have driven, (I own an XJ) feels a lot different than the GS (Which I own). The XF is a MUCH sportier and MUCH more responsive car. It's also NOT available in AWD, and as far as reliability goes, Jags are not to Lexus levels, but to be fair, in some ways I feel they are better made. The paint, for example, on my GS is full of Orange Peel, the paint on my XJ is smooth as glass. However, they're better than, say, Audi/BMW/Benz.

Try em both, see which one works

You're being duped by your dealer! There is no such thing as "Lexus loyalty". Just go to Zag.com to find the best price on the GS or any other car.

There is little to no loyalty anymore in business. No matter the purchase, keep one thing in mind: The seller wants your money and doesn't care how he gets it..as long as he gets it.

the best thing is to do is compare, test drive the jag see what they will give you for the IS and compare that to what lexus is offering, you can use that as leverage to which car you choose too
