just tell them to keep your car running and drive the car over to pepboys or kragen

i won't even bother with optima, just get one of those typical battery for like 70 bucks and you are done

I think that this is a standard dealership scam as they also tried that with me.

I don't think the car tells you when the battery is low... I think your warning is that it doesn't start one day unfortunately.

Hopefully you'd notice beforehand like hard/slow cranking starts.

In the past whenever my warranty has expired, I have used AAA for battery replacement. They're inexpensive. Their batteries are good. And they come to you for no additional charge. It's a good deal if you are a AAA member.

Shouldn't the battery be replaced for free with the 7 year warranty?

^ check your warranty, but I don't think so. It's one of the wear and tear part... like brake and tires.

Yep, just opened the hood and the battery states 84 month warranty. I had my battery replaced for free back in 08 and remembered my service guy mentioning the length of the warranty. Unless his Air runner voided the warranty for the battery.

I paid 148.00 last week at Lexus. Battery is now covered for
the life of my ownership as long as the same dealer
replaces it.
