All - I have an '08 GS460. Since purchase, when making right turns into inclined driveways, the car would literally "pulse" when pulling into the driveway. Occasionally, the VCS light would come on. I am never going more than 5mph when this occurs Recently, I have decided to turn off the VCS "nanny" as I like the improved throttle responses. However, now when pulling into these same driveways I hear a loud "metal to metal" clunk from the rear and still get a reduced hesitation. I can feel the clunk throughout the car. Does anyone have an idea????
i can't say much about the metal clunk neither, did you try to turn back on the vsc and see if it goes away
the hesitation is probably because when you turn into driveway, your right rear wheel got "lifted". and since we have open differential, that wheel is considered "slipping" and vsc kicking in.
without vsc, then the lifted wheel should keep on spinning, maybe that that time the car is rolling back and forth a bit and the suspension adjusting?
I don't experience this on my 460. Seems like a failure to me. Would have dealer check it out. Drive the technician to your house to replicate the issue.

to be fair all 3gs will experience the same thing, as long as the incline is deep enough and the angle is "right". it's a common situation for any open differential (the hesitation / spinning part). the clunking part, that's the mystery

Yeah I was referring to the clunking not the wheel spin.
The clunk definitely goes away, but the "pulsation" or "hesitation" while making the turn doesn't... so I have a choice, the clunk or the pulsation. Clunk has me most worried. I'm trying to tape the sound, but it's not working....
