Is there a trend here that it seems to happen mostly in dry hot climates?

^ nope. It happen hot and cold, just happen randomly. That cheap plastic can't handle the movement forever and when it give is when u have problem.

Like many, I just turn mine off. I'm looking for a small oval and cut mirror to stick into my mirror for this purpose and to see in blind spot. But I haven't find any like I want.

Quote: if you dont want the mirrors to tilt down then on the drop down box, set the switch to the middle so neither the L or R is selected. doing so will stop the mirrors from tilting down in reverse.
Thanks, I'll try it today.

Seems to me like a mirror inadvertently not returning to the correct position to see in your blind spot could lead to an accident.

Sounds like recall bait to me.

same here, had the left one replaced under the warranty and the wife informed me that the right one is doing it now... so we'll get this taken care of the next time i'm in before the warranty is up...

after than i'll disable them...

So assuming that one did the LED signal mod on the mirrors, does this void one's warranty??

techincally no. the dealer will say that doing that would have caused the problem but unless they can prove that the led signal actually caused the mirror to stop working, then they have to replace it.
