LED trunk light
I just installed this in my trunk. I don't have before and after pics, but it is a substantial increase in brightness. In fact I would not want my trunk any brighter.
It fits just about, however since it is a bit longer than a standard DE3021, the on-off switch doesn't work. This means the light is always on when the trunk is open, but obviously switched off automatically when the trunk is closed. I can't switch the light off with the trunk open. This doesn't bother me since I always have the switch in the on position anyway.
$20 from these guys.

Too expensive for me. Not worth it though. My much cheaper H3 do the job just fine. Though I did have to run the wire and do some soldering, but it is exactly where I want it and bright as I want it.
I would love to see pics of yours though. When I get my car back I'll take some pics to show mine.

Just don't ask where the steering wheel is cause there r too many wheels on a car to point u to the correct one to steer.
The one caught me the most is the headlight washer spray... I know it spray but when I go out to see it... well, it's not there.

I just got a "31mm 1W 100-Lumen 7000K 2-SMD LED Car White Light" replacement bulb delivered to try in my trunk from my favorite chinese junk store dealextreme.com for $3.30 including postage (from china... I have no idea how they do it but they include posting for everything for free worldwide even for stuff that costs only pennies).
No idea how bright it'll actually be - I don't expect super high quality stuff from this place but usually the stuff "works", but it can't be dimmer than the filiment bulb that they come with. It seems to be built acceptably well and it comes with a fairly large metal heat sink on the back of the PCB.
I also don't really care if I can turn the light off while the trunk is open so I'll likely just shove it in there also and not bother trying to bend the contacts. I'll probably get around to trying to put it in later tonight I'll let you know how it looks... maybe I'll even be of the mind to take a picture of what I'm doing for once in my life.
I assume I can pry that housing straight out of the liner.

The bulb, as expected, is much bigger than the one it replaced. Managed to jam it in, but some electrical tape on the metal bar that runs across the housing just in case that heatsink makes contact with it just to be prudent.
I'm more than happy with the color and brightness of the thing for the $3 it cost me. It's obviously not SUPER DUPER bright like the nichia 1W putco bulbs I have in my parking lights but it costs 10X less and certainly lights the whole trunk nicely.
As usual, impossible to take a photo that objectively shows anything worth showing. And yes, the switch is rendered pretty much useless because the whole mechanism is so tight without any modding to the arms.

The light in our trunk is terrible. Brightness is only part of the issue; the bulb really needs to be top and center to provide decent lighting IMO.
This is my favorite trunk light mod:

Yeah... but honestly, it's just a trunk. You need enough light just to be able to find something in it, you don't need enough light to perform surgery in there.

The trunk light automatically turns off after about 10-15 min.
V-LEDS "3175" bulb also a little bit bigger. But it fits there and you can turn on\off light manualy.

China can ship small low value items because the shipping is subsidized to an almost zero cost. This is part of the trade agreements with the usa. I don't know the exact details of the agreement or which governments pay more. But obviously there is a cost that someone pays.
