I have a GS430. Is the TRAC off option supposed to shut off traction controll permanently? In may car it automatically comes back on when wheels start sliding. Is there a way to keep it off or is that an issue with my car? Please help. Thanks!
USE SOLUTION BELOW IF YOUR 430 IS 06. IF NOT, PRESS AND HOLD TRC BUTTON FOR 5 SECONDS
To TURN OFF TRACTION CONTROL
The Procedure below MUST be completed quickly, less than 30 Secs
1. Make sure the car is in Park and the parking brake is disengaged before you start the car.
2. Start the engine.
3. Engage the parking brake.
4. Fully depress the brake pedal and then release.
5. Fully depress the brake pedal and then release.
6. Disengage the parking brake.
7. Fully depress and hold down the brake pedal.
8. Engage the parking brake, then disengage it (while holding down the brake pedal).
9. Engage the parking brake, then disengage it (while holding down the brake pedal).
10. Release the brake pedal.
11. Engage the parking brake.
12. Fully depress the brake pedal and then release.
13. Fully depress the brake pedal and then release.
And no, there isnt another way if your car is 06. There is if you buy the 07+ models Good luck trying to perform it.
so you mean it is supposed to come back automatically even if the button is turned off? The only way to shut it off is to trick it in the way you described?

No, I dont mind testing the brake pedal for stress factors. Just found the whole procedure a bit funny.
I do not understand why Lexus thought deactivating TRAC was not needed in one year.
But then again, unless you plan on burn outs or powerslides at every turn I don't see it as a huge problem, unless the system triggers itself at every light with 50% throttle input.
