Default Changing the rotors with every pad change

Unless you drive hard causing hard braking...doesn't this sound like overkill? I mean you would that that this car is a Porsche or something. If I'm going to be changing brakes and rotors every 19-20k with normal driving habits this is going to suck!

NO u shouldn't be, but if they warp yes u are gonna have to replace them unless u like that vibration. Now in order not to replace rotors get some cross drilled and slotted they should last u at least couple of years.

They aren't warped nor is there any vibration...I think this dealer is just trying to rape me. They tried to charge me $165 for injector cleaning on a car that has less than 20k on it. The sad thing is that they also own the next closes dealership is over 200 miles away and I have heard that they aren't much better.

That's completely ridiculous! It does sound like they are trying to take you for everything you have. I would mention to them that you are part of the forums and that everyone thinks they are trying to rob you. That's just me I don't like someone trying to f me like that.

The least you should do with every pad change is to get the rotors resurface so it's free of any glazed contaminents. You'll want those pads to wear evenly so you'll need a flat surface for it to do so.

Changing rotors are overkill, especially on a daily driven car.

Yeah...I'm really getting tired of this dealership. If I would've known their service sucked like this I might have bought something else.

go to another dealership, seems like there is only one thing in their mind -- $$$

like others said, you absolutely do NOT have to get new rotors every time you change the pads. you (they) always have to inspect and see if the rotors are warped or need resurfacing or if it's still within limit. then they determine if new rotors are needed

There is one less than 3 miles from where I live the next one is 70 miles away and is owned by the same person so when I called them they told and quoted me the same price. There is one other dealership in LA which is about 230 miles away and their service isn't better from what I've heard so.... I'm going to call and get a price on pad only in the morning.

Just take it to a dependable independent shop, brake jobs are simple. You TELL them that you want new pads and to turn the rotors , thats it. Should be about 300.00 max

yeah in that case, maybe shopping for a good reputable local shop is a better idea

Your dealership's screwing you over. Post their info please.

I like Westminster Lexus' service the best - they're pretty straight up and honest with me.

That being said, why are you getting your brakes done @ the dealer? Go some where else. They're not rocket science to change.

Sorry man, but that is not accurate. They will last generally the same amount of time. If anything, you will end up replacing pads more frequently.

If the rotors are not worn below spec and are not warped I would leave them alone.
Throw a set of factory pads on and be done.
