there's 3 settings, ECT PWR, Normal, and snow..... ECT PWR keeps you in the power band during normal driving for less effort on the gas pedal.... doesn't give you extra power, just keeps you in power band... pay very close attention when driving your car with that button on AND off... you'll see a difference between normal and ECT PWR

IMO it's not better to use simply because it feels soo abusive when i use it on my gs430 =\

In addition to what was just posted above, the car has a nice punch when in the PWR mode, however gas mileage will suffer.

When put in the SNOW mode, it will start the car from a standing start in second gear. This, when in snow, will help to avoid wheel slip and provide more traction to get the car moving.

Just simply use it yourself to find out... Why ask something simple if you haven't done it yet?

Maybe he made the mistake of pressing the big red self destruct button in a previous lexus and now he's shy (and lost most of his mental faculties at the time).

i also think it opens up the throttle a little faster than normal. as stated, changes the shift point to higher for a better pull. also when you brake, the system will downshift more aggressively to try to keep the car in power band

I have never ever turned the power setting off for ore than a day and I have noticed when I leave it in normal mode I get 10% better fuel economy. It stops the excessive down gears and increase in rpms while accelerating. The car will still pull but you have to put your foot in it
