sunroof malfunction..please help
Last night when i got off of work, it was about 39 degrees and the roof was a little frosted. stupid me decided to tilt the sunroof up and heard a weird noise coming from it. it barely tilted up so i put it down and it went down lower than the roof of the car. i dont think this is normal. the sliding open/close. does not work either. the info screen on the gauge cluster keeps warning of 'moonroof open' and the best i can do is adjust the tilt up/down to be flush with the roof. its an '06 430 and the car is out of warranty also. any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks!
Uh oh....something tells me the mechanism is out of alignment, perhaps a broken gear. I would try to reset the whole thing by opening it UP all the way and holding the button for UP down once it gets there for a few seconds. Then try to lower it all the way. If this does not do it, you are gonna have to take it apart or take it in. Smells like $1000 bucks
It's probably nothing specific to these cars. The lesson is, when it's cold and possibly have an iced car don't move anything on the outside that can move! I'm sure many a moonroofs and side mirrors have gotten messed up because they were iced solid.
Though honestly I've never even thought to open the moon roof when it's freezing cold outside. I do disable the auto tilt on the mirrors if there is any chance of ice in the mirror after making that mistake once.

When you held the open and close buttons to reset yours, did you hold them at the same time? for how long? It wasn't the up/down buttons?
Anyone else have any ideas?
Thanks for the help.
