Default Help with power mirror

I have a problem with my drivers side mirror.

When I put the car in reverse the mirror tilts down ( sometimes too far and some time not at all)

when I put the car in drive, the pass side mirror returns to the proper position but the drivers side stays in the reverse lower position pointed at the ground.

I have to adjust the mirror manually back to the upper position using the mirror fold down controls I am getting tired of this.

Does any one have any use full information in fixing this problem?

The mirrors go bad...it's a very common issue with these 3GS'. If you're still under warranty, just take it in and they'll replace them.

sounds like some of the gears are stripping and you are intermittently going back to original position. Need new mirror my friend. If you are out of warranty, find one on ebay, and swap it out, you could even just swap out the internals if you cant find in your color. From seeing your heated seat install, you should be able to swap the mirror pretty easily.

Solution: Turn off the auto tilt.

^ that's what I gonna say. The previous snow storm I had similar problem with my mirror. It tilt down when I do the reverse but had problem going back. It would clicks while trying like the gear wouldn't catch. I just had enough of it and turn the feature off.

To turn off, on the adjusting mirror panel and just turn off the light that pointing to the mirror being adjust by pressing that side again.

If there is any chance of freezing rain, or if I just washed the car, I make sure from now on to disable the auto mirror feature because once I forgot about it and there was some ice frozen between the mirror and the housing and it got stuck and clicked like that. Fortunately it seemed like it is smart enough to realize it's jammed and stop trying and everything was fine after that but sometimes I wonder if this is part of the cause of the mirror failures.

They should recall it if it's this much of a problem. What if somebody reverses out of their driveway, mirror gets stuck down, and then they don't realize it until they are out driving. They will not be able to check their mirror without fumbling with that drop down box which is really hard to use while driving (especially for me, since I'm kind of tall for the car). It could cause an accident.

Now, does somebody with a stuck mirror need to volunteer to go get into an accident and sue Lexus so we can all have some peace of mind?

^ U can do it. I'm fine with a fixed mirror.

It's all wear and tear.

it doesn't make any sense.

auto tilt fails. But you can manually adjust it back by electronic switch.
so that means the gears still work??

whatever the case.......... This part needs a LIFETIME WARRANTY due to bad design.
who wants to start a petition.....
