I'm starting a new thread as I don't see one for the 3rd gen of the GS.
I have a master key, but want additional keys to be programmed to my vehicle.
So, I bought 2 additional transponders online. After going to my local dealer, they were unable to program these keys because one has been paired to another vehicle and another is for a hybrid vehicle. Both have the same FCC ID and the same IC #.
Is this true, that once a key is programmed, it cannot be re-programmed to another vehicle?
I read that this is the case with the credit card transmitter but not the regular key fob as long as its the correct part # for your car. Never tried to confirm...
Call another dealer and ask them or PM a vendor on here to confirm.
I can't seem to get a definite answer on this.
From my computer knowledge, a key fob should bee able to reset or clear previous data and input new data.
