Default upgrading DRLs... is it worth it?

Ive been reading all the DRL threads I could find... and mostly found conflicting/ confusing or outdated info. Hopefully you guys can help me clear up the confusion with an updated thread on what new products are actually available for the GS and what the trade-offs will be.

I have to say I really HATE the peach colored incandescent bulbs in my city lights and DRLs!
so is there a good replacement option without losing high-beam functionality and without blinding people in the daytime DRL mode.

I will probably get a 6000k low-beam and 3000k or 6000k HID fog upgrade so I need a recommendation for a good matching set of DRLs and running/ city-lights too.

There is the older version V-LEDS DRL kit but I havent seen any on a GS, only on IS models. Is there something different about our cars or does it fit on a GS too? These have a DRL module to eliminate flickering issues but they run full power in the daytime and from my understanding they STILL aren't bright enough for use as a functional high-beam. If anyone has this kit on a GS I would like to know your impression of night driving with the highbeams.

Then they sell a 2x brighter kit which I don't totally understand, because it requires an HID adapter module in addition to the DRL module. Does this kit work well as a high beam?? It seems like a complicated and expensive install. If anyone has this kit can you please post up some pics and reviews?

Is there another DRL upgrade option such as a superwhite halogen or maybe a NOKYA 2500k halogen? I would really like to see pics of those on a 3G GS

If you live in the city it is worth it. If you live in the country and use your high beams a good bit it is not worth it.

Check this thread out.

you dont want to go with no high beams. Even in the city there will be situations you will need them. How about dark driveways or even flashing someone to get the hell out of the way. I use mine all of the time because I live in the hills. Some people had issue when they started messing with bulbs and ballasts. I dont want issues so I am staying stock.

It will look nice BTW. Form vs Function.......its a tight rope but I think the engineers at Lexus did a decent job in this arena

Thanks,
I'm thinking about just dropping in some 2500-3300k yellow halogens and calling it a day. That way its cheap, It looks better, and I can keep all the stock functions. Maybe that will also be good to use as fog lights and Ill put 6000k HIDs in the stock fog location, low beams, and use a set of "hid blue" led for the city lights.

I m hoping someone will post a pic with yellow highbeams before I do it just in case its not the look that I want to go with

I'd just turn off the DRL.

meangreen, since tour DRL and low beam never go on at the same, you really dont need to worry about color matching. The city light however does go on with the low beam, I would get some high quailty LED 194 bulb for the city light to match your 6000K HID low beam. For the DRL, I would just go with some cheap tinted halogens. If you do with the VLED, you will lose your high beam.
