Folding mirror EXPOSED(PIX)
Like I said ya. I think someone hit my mirrow walking by. Looking at the way the gear was stripped. And it can be a good thing the gear is plastic(couple of them). Maybe they were designed to give, like that the mirror won't break at thehinge deal. Right? They should sell replacement gears though instead of having one option, and that's to spend almost 500 bucks with lexus to replace the mechanical unit. That's just wrong from the buyers prospective
if your warranty ran out just last month, you might be able to get lexus corporate to give you a one-time courtesy warranty job.
call em up and try. doesn't hurt.
state your case. Tell em they use cheap parts that have no durability, and that many owners have problems with the mirror gears. make them look ugly, and they just might give you a free repair.
it's pennies from their pockets.
but damn. they use too much plastic. metal gears would at least be a little more durable than that.

Exactly!
I wonder if worm gears like that are a standard size. I bought a replacement for my odometer from these guys. Might be worth sending the broken one to them and see if it matches up with anything they have in inventory.
